Welcome to Mercat Cross, a place where we can think about issues of faith and public policy in Scotland today. Mercat Cross was established by Logos Scotland in 2024 to publish articles by people who want to contribute to public policy discourse in Scotland. It is a place for reasoned and winsome discussion about the issues that are facing our country, contributors have all been invited to submit articles on issues that they are passionate about, we may not always fully agree with everything that is said but it is important that we can have a space to think and discuss issues of concern.
The Scottish political scene has developed over the last 25 years since devolution, but is still in many ways young. We have a strong third sector and well established Parliament, but not many avenues for public debate or think tanks providing critical friendship to Governments and political parties. The Mercat Cross, along with Logos Scotland is seeking to provide that space where Christians can come together, discuss, be challenged, learn and engage.
